Factors such as; the Victorians, the United States as a melting pot, The Civil War, Abraham Lincoln's last journey, the rise of cities and individuals, undertakers as a profession, the discovery of germs, the medical profession, changes in life expectancies, literature, books, movies all influence how death is acknowledge (or not) and talked about in today's society.
