Showing Up: Supporting Your Team Through Loss and Transition

Every community carries grief. Workplaces, boards, faith communities, volunteer organizations, caregiving teams — wherever people gather around shared purpose, loss and transition are already in the room. Someone has returned from bereavement leave still carrying loss. A colleague is mid-transition, and nobody knows what to say. A team member is grieving something that has no name yet.

Nobody does anything wrong. They just don't have the language or the tools.

This 90-minute session gives participants the language, the confidence, and the practical skills to show up for one another through loss and transition — before the next hard moment lands on their doorstep.

Drawing on the grief literacy framework in Francesca Arnoldy's Kindred Grief Care, this class explores how grief moves through communities and teams, what gets in the way of showing up well, and how small, specific acts of presence and support can change the culture of any group.

This is not a grief support group. It is a practical, peer-centered conversation designed for anyone who shows up for other human beings.

Participants will leave with:

- Language for talking about loss without fear of saying the wrong thing
- Practical frameworks for supporting a grieving colleague or community member
- The Platinum Rule — do unto others as they would have done unto them
- An e-book copy of Kindred Grief Care by Francesca Arnoldy

All class proceeds directly support the Center for Death Education’s mission.  Please note that the class price includes a downloadable e-book copy of Kindred Grief Care by Francesca Arnoldy.
