Conversations About Death - September

Conversations About Death is a unique social gathering that provides an open and supportive environment for individuals to engage in meaningful discussions about death, dying, and grieving. Each meeting will have a topic for exploration, giving everyone a great opportunity to share thoughts and feelings, experiences, and questions, and learn from others.

September's Topic: This month we turn toward the quiet ache of Ambiguous Loss and Anticipatory Grief—those experiences that unfold without clear boundaries, without a moment of closure, and often without a roadmap. Grieving Without Closure and the Weight of Waiting invites us to consider what it means to carry sorrow that is still in motion, shaped by uncertainty, hope, fear, and the emotional strain of not knowing when or how an ending will arrive. We will explore how these forms of grief influence identity, connection, and the inner landscape of coping during prolonged periods of waiting.

Sharing Prompt: Have you experienced grief without a clear ending—and how has that uncertainty shown up emotionally for you?

The meeting will be held on 9/16/26 at 1 pm at the NE Library in Wilmington, NC.

NE Library Landfall Center
