Conversations About Death is a unique social gathering that provides an open and supportive environment for individuals to engage in meaningful discussions about death, dying, and grieving. Each meeting will have a topic for exploration, giving everyone a great opportunity to share thoughts and feelings, experiences, and questions, and learn from others.
In May, we turn our attention to the healing power of humor at the end of life. Even in the presence of death, humor can reveal our shared humanity. This meeting invites you to explore how laughter and lightness can coexist with fear, loss, and grief—offering connection, relief, and moments of meaning when life feels heaviest. Together, we will consider when humor can support coping, how it can strengthen relationships, and why it often emerges naturally in times of profound vulnerability.
The meeting will be held on 5/13/26 at 1 pm at the NE Library in Wilmington, NC. Registration is requested.
