Memorial Diorama Online Workshop

Losing a beloved pet or person is deeply difficult; we feel their absence in daily life. Veneration helps keep them close—telling their stories, listening to their favorite music, cooking their favorite meals, or creating art in their honor. One form this can take is a memorial diorama: a small shrine that honors their life and presence.

In this online workshop, we will create miniature shrines to hold the love and memories we carry for those who have passed. These pieces can live in our homes—on altars, bedside tables, or shelves—wherever we wish to feel close to them.

Guided by death doula Lauren Seeley, the workshop offers a supportive, creative space for memorialization through art and storytelling. We will build our dioramas step by step using personal objects, photographs, colors, and symbols that evoke our beloveds.

As we work, we will reflect on practices of veneration and explore the history of memorial altars and shrines across cultures, considering how creativity sustains connection after loss.

Open to anyone grieving a beloved pet, family member, partner, or friend. No artistic experience is needed. Conversation is encouraged, with optional sharing at the end for those who wish. Participants will leave with a personal, enduring diorama—a small memorial that keeps love present and remembered.
