Jade Davis is a certified thanatologist (CT), holds a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and English from UC Davis, and is currently completing her Master of Science degree in Thanatology at Edgewood College. Jade has volunteered with CaringMatters in Gaithersburg, MD, since 2013, and is passionate about supporting individuals and families navigating death and grief.
As a bereavement peer support group facilitator, Jade has facilitated spousal loss, parent loss, and suicide loss groups, and currently facilitates an ongoing group for widowed people under the age of 50. She has also provided practical support and companionship to patients and families facing serious illness, and helped train and mentor other facilitators.
Jade’s research interests include: the interplay between self-trust and the bereavement experience; representations of the lived experience of individuals navigating grief, particularly individuals from historically under-represented populations; and the potential ways in which situational factors surrounding a death and bereavement might influence the content and trajectory of the bereavement experience. She received ADEC’s 2023 Richard Kalish Graduate Student Paper Award for her paper exploring Situational Factors Influencing Family Caregiver Regret in Bereavement.
