Calvin M. Amato, CCO, CPC is a dedicated brain recovery specialist in collaboration with Boston University CTE Center and a compassionate funeral professional at Koch Funeral Home. He combines scientific knowledge with heartfelt support in the field of end-of-life services. With additional experiences as a death doula and autopsy technician, Calvin approaches his work each day with a deep understanding of both the emotional and physical aspects of death, firmly believing that every life deserves to be honored with dignity and respect.

His extensive qualifications—including certifications as a Funeral Celebrant, Preplanning Consultant, Natural Organic Reduction Operator, and Cremation Operator—enable him to create personalized and meaningful services that celebrate the unique stories and legacies of those we have lost.

Calvin's commitment to compassionate service extends beyond the funeral home as he also actively participates in community leadership as a member of several Boards of Directors, including Tides Grief Program and the Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. His involvement with these organizations reflects his passion for fostering healing and connection among those affected by loss. He also plays a role in shaping the future of funeral service through his contributions on the Advisory Board for Kates-Boylston Funeral Publications, the Independent Advisory Committee for the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, and many other professional committees.

Calvin shares his insights and experiences through publications, such as The National Funeral Directors Association's The Director, the International Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association’s Memento Mori, and Kates-Boylston’s American Funeral Director. He has also led webinars and community events focused on the changing landscape of end-of-life care, promoting thoughtful discussions on best practices and the importance of personalizing services to reflect the unique lives of those we honor.

With a passion for providing empathetic care, Calvin embodies the spirit of a new generation of funeral professionals dedicated to honoring lives with both compassion and innovation. He currently resides in the State College, Pennsylvania area, where he continues to make a meaningful impact on his community, one family at a time.
